What is OVV3D Wood PLA+?

The OVV3D Wood PLA+ filament is a special type of 3D printing material that contains over 30% real wood fibers. This addition makes the printed models look and feel like real wood. In one package, you get four different types of wood filaments, each offering a unique color and style:

  •  Walnut Wood PLA – Dark brown or chocolate brown color.
  •  Oak Wood PLA – Light, creamy-brown color.
  •  Cherry Wood PLA – Medium reddish brown color.
  • Teak Wood PLA – Golden or medium brown color.

Easy to Print

The filament has a very precise diameter of 1.75mm with a tolerance of +/- 0.03mm. This means it consistently fits well in 3D printers, giving you smoother printing experiences. Its high toughness also allows for a wide range of creative 3D printing projects.

High-Quality Raw Material

The raw material for this filament is sourced from Europe and is specially developed to ensure high print quality. This filament won’t jam, bubble, tangle, or leave layer lines, providing you with perfect prints every time.

Perfect Winding

To ensure each roll is neat and tidy, the filament is wound using the latest intelligent winding machines and is checked manually. This attention to detail ensures high-quality printing and prevents issues during the printing process.

Eco-Friendly Packaging

In an effort to protect the environment, this filament comes on paper spools and is packaged in paper boxes instead of plastic. Each roll is vacuum-packed with high-quality desiccant to keep the filament dry and ready to use.

User Experience

Initially, we tested a 4-pack of 200g rolls with 30% wood content. The rolls were extremely dry, knotted, and encrusted, making much of the filament unusable . After following advice from Reddit, we filed for a refund and discovered that glue had spread into the roll, turning the filament into a hard, rock-like substance.

With the refund and a need for wood filament, we faced a dilemma. Should we risk buying OVV3D again, which had beautiful results but awful rolls, or take a chance on a more expensive 1kg spool of Oak Wood? We decided to give OVV3D another shot and was pleasantly surprised. The new roll was perfect, and the results were just as impressive as before.

Before that we also tried a 15% Ebony filament from another company, which was good but only contained 15% wood. Many other brands, like Hatchbox, are expensive and contain very little real wood. OVV3D stands out with its at least 30% real wood content. The prints show a sawdust texture and emit a pleasant aroma. The two-color designs turned out spectacularly on both the Bambu A1 mini and the P1S printers. It’s always best to monitor the first layers to address any loose threads that may appear.

The OVV3D Wood PLA+ filament is an excellent choice for 3D printing enthusiasts looking for a material that mimics real wood. While my initial experience with the 200g rolls was challenging, the subsequent purchase of a larger roll proved to be successful. The filament’s high wood content, combined with its ease of use and eco-friendly packaging, makes it a standout option in the market. Despite the initial hiccup, I’m satisfied with the final results and would recommend giving OVV3D Wood PLA+ a try.
